Firehouse Underground
Hidden in the basement of the Gourley Building in downtown Sioux Falls, lives a coffeehouse ministry called Firehouse Underground. Designed as a gathering place for youth & young adults, it’s nightly purpose is to be a positive place to hang out, offering live music, free popcorn, and a wide assortment of games to play. As a testament to this effort, we were voted #1 in the teen entertainment category through “The Local Best,” an honor we’ve received 3 years in a row. Firehouse's MissionTo create a gathering place in the community that offers conversation and acceptance offered by caring people that love Jesus Christ as their Lord. Because Firehouse was founded as a Christian ministry, a strong emphasis on the needs and brokenness of our guests birthed a style of ministry that can be best described as relationship-driven. Business is done with a listening ear, investing time in those who come, and accepting them as they are. Sometimes, through a natural progression of personal conversation, an opportunity to pray one-on-one arises. Which leads us to the ministry of UHOP… UHOP: Underground House of Prayer
UHOP is a ministry of Firehouse. It is open the same hours as the coffeehouse, but functions in a completely different way. Time spent in the prayer room is vertical in nature as you “draw near to God and He draws near to you,” James 4:8. Prayer cards are available should you want to leave a request. There is a small room for private time on your knees, or a larger room for group worship and intercession. UHOP's missionTo be a place of gathering for night and day worship and prayer. The vision of UHOP is to be a prayer ministry that serves the body of Christ through intercession for His people, for the Lord wants the lost brought into a vibrant living church. We are committed to praying for all issues of LIFE: “for He came that we might have life and have it to the full,” John 10:10. We love Jesus and seek intimacy with Him: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all you mind,” Matthew 22:37. We gather as forerunners, watching the times and seasons: “Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober,” 1 Thess. 5:6. welcomeWe are glad to have you on our web site.
