What goes on here?

firehouse underground live music It is a place where nightlife and Christian ministry converge in the form of a great place to hang out; where music and entertainment speaks to the soul; where Italian sodas and mochas rule.

We seek to provide a place of joy, as well as a place of refuge. God is at work here, doing business through this place. We’ve become a home and our guests have become family. Night after night, people gather to talk, to play games, to escape, to meet for bible study or small group. People bring their homework, their smiles, their burdens and their needs.

We’re all about relationships. Making them, keeping them, nurturing them – all in the name of Christ. We are accepting of all who enter.

When did it begin?

Although it seems almost like yesterday, Firehouse Underground opened its’ doors for business on March 13th, 2002. It was modeled after a previous coffeehouse ministry here in Sioux Falls, which was open from 1967 until 1982, called “The Firehouse.” What should not be surprising is, whether we look to the past or present day, human needs have not changed. Our need for Jesus is now magnified in a pervasive Godlessness.

Where community is sought, community is found. Firehouse Underground provides a clean, safe, and non-threatening place to gather. In love and friendship a volunteer staff serves each nights guests, with the bottom line being that what we do, we do because of Christ and we serve on behalf of Christ.
